Exhaust Diffusers F1 Aerodynamics

The aerodynamics of the car is one of the most important aspects that goes into an F1 cars design. We have heard a lot of talk recently (this 2010 F1 Season), about the F-Duct, that is possibly banned for 2011. (Which is a crying shame for F1 design with a view to putting more control of the car into the drivers hands, (or left knee in the best and safest version of the F-Duct), with respect to creating less predictable races!

However, there is another valuable piece of aerodynamic technology that has not had much mention, and that is Exhaust Diffusers. They cause a similar effect of disrupting the air-flow, to create more or less drag, depending on car speed, to gain better handling and control.

Air-Flow Exhaust Diffusers.
The only team currently using the exhaust diffuser system to disrupt air-flow around the rear wheels, is RED BULL. It is reported that WILLIAMS are soon to adopt this. It must be working, because we are now at race 7 of the 2010 season, as I write this article and RED BULL have had 7 pole positions!

More to follow on this article.
THIS POST IS STILL BEING UPDATED. WHEN THIS MESSAGE IS REMOVED, THAT WILL BE THE FINAL POST. The PODCAST will not update for 12 to 24 hours!
